Electrolyte Level Monitors to Meet NERC PRC-005-2 Compliance
(August 2016) One of the most critical roles of utility companies is to ensure the health and protection of their Bulk Electric System (BES). Without proper battery testing and preventative maintenance, the Bulk Electric System is compromised. As a result, utility companies can suffer from significant revenue loss, possible safety hazards for their workers and more. To ensure the negative effects of a compromised system won’t occur, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) has been formed to enforce the reliability standards of all battery monitoring and testing equipment. In addition, NERC PRC-005-2 requires utilities worldwide to document and implement programs for the maintenance of all protection systems affecting the reliability of the BES.

How Protected Are your Battery Rooms?
(June 2015) — Eagle Eye Power Solutions is introducing the HGD-3000 Hydrogen Gas Detector – the ultimate fixed hydrogen gas detector for any battery room. The HGD-3000 protects from hydrogen gas buildup while detecting smoke, temperature, loss of power and intrusion.
The HGD-3000 was designed for unattended battery installations or remote shelters containing gassing lead acid batteries and charging systems - most commonly found in the telecommunications and utility sectors. Other applications for hydrogen gas detection include forklift and golf cart charging areas, data centers, mission critical facilities, fire departments, and other battery charging rooms.
The HGD-3000 Has Three Main Functions:
Hydrogen Gas Detection
Attach the HGD-3000 to the wall, ceiling, or optional junction box using the mounting holes at the top and bottom of the detector box. The HGD-3000 will turn on an exhaust fan when hydrogen gas levels reach 1% and will alarm at 2%. This alarm consists of a local 80db horn, a flashing red LED, and a dry contact switch closure for remote alarming.
The photoelectric smoke sensor detects minute combustion products from smoldering wire insulation, battery cases, and other material. When smoke is detected, a distinctive alarm is emitted from the 80db horn and a separate dry contact switch is activated. At this time, the exhaust fan is inhibited in order to deny the fire increased oxygen from outside air.
Temperature, Loss of Power, & Intrusion
During normal operation and in the absence of an alarm condition, an internal thermostat will turn on the exhaust fan at a preset temperature to reduce heat buildup in the room. Loss of power to the unit will also generate a dry contact alarm. Additionally, an optional infrared intrusion alarm will trigger a silent dry contact switch.
Lead-acid batteries on charge emit hydrogen gas after reaching the 80% recharge point. When mixed with enough air, hydrogen becomes a highly flammable gas that can ignite easily with just a spark, destroying equipment and harming personnel. The lower explosive level (LEL) for hydrogen is 4.1% by volume. The dangers of hydrogen gas explosion are eliminated by using the HGD-3000 hydrogen gas detector.

New Battery Voltage & Ground Fault Monitors - Simple Battery Monitoring!
(March 2015) — Eagle Eye Power Solutions released a new line of battery voltage & ground fault monitors to complement their existing battery monitoring and testing products. The VGM-Series is Eagle Eye's newest line of continuous battery monitoring systems --- designed to monitor battery string voltage and ground faults in real-time. The VGM-Series is an inexpensive, user-friendly solution that has a simplistic design for monitoring 24V, 48V, 125V, and 250V batteries.
Why Monitor for Voltage & Ground Faults?
Battery voltage monitoring will provide critical battery cell protection and ensure the longevity of the battery system. Over voltage can lead to overcharging and overheating of the batteries, which can cause irreversible cell destruction. Under voltage will also cause irreversible battery damage if left uncorrected. Battery ground faults can be difficult to locate and may create catastrophic and costly damage if they remain undetected. The entire battery system will be compromised and subject itself to overheating, thermal runaway, and reduced battery capacity.
Continuous voltage & ground fault monitoring will eliminate those risks, and allow for immediate corrective action - protecting the integrity of your battery system.
VGM-100 Battery Voltage & Ground Fault Dual Monitor
The VGM-100 Battery Voltage & Battery Ground Fault Monitor is an all-in-one solution for simplistic battery monitoring. The unit reads battery status, detects out-of-limit conditions and provides alarm conditions at user settings. Includes four Form C Contacts.
GFM-100 Battery Ground Fault Monitor
The GFM-100 Battery Ground Fault Monitor is a real time solution for monitoring battery ground faults. If a ground fault is detected, a positive or negative ground fault message will appear, and the GFM-100 can activate one of four Form C contacts.
VM-100 Battery String Voltage Monitor
The VM-100 Battery Voltage Monitor will continuously monitor battery string over voltage and under voltage conditions. If over or under voltage is detected, the voltage status will appear on the unit & the VM-100 will activate one of four Form C Contacts.

Simplified & Improved Portable Battery Testing Kits: Revamped IBEX-Series
(September 2014) — Eagle Eye Power Solutions has improved their popular IBEX-Series Portable Battery Testing Kits. Originally having four (4) kits in the series, Eagle Eye has simplified it to three (3) kits to meet any company’s needs and budget. The IBEX-Series is commonly used in the utility, telecommunications, UPS, transportation and mission critical industries, and is the preferred battery tester by service groups worldwide.
The IBEX-Series is made up of three (3) Kits:
The IBEX-Ultra is the premier kit in the IBEX-Series, capable of storing 4,800 measurement results and 80 alarm settings. The IBEX-Ultra includes Exmons Ultra Battery Management Software to trend data & create reports. In addition to testing Voltage, Internal Resistance, Inter-cell Resistance, and Temperature the IBEX-Ultra tests DC Current & Ripple Current.
The IBEX-Pro is similar to the IBEX-Ultra but it is commonly used for testing smaller amounts of battery systems. The IBEX-Pro also includes Exmons Ultra Battery Management Software and has a memory of 600 measurement results and can test Voltage, Internal Resistance, Inter-cell Resistance, and (optional) temperature.
The IBEX-EX is the most economic portable battery tester in the IBEX-Series. The IBEX-EX tests Voltage, Internal Resistance, Inter-cell Resistance, and (optional) temperature, and includes Serial Comm which is a program for transferring results from the IBEX to Microsoft Excel for basic reporting.
The IBEX-Series is the smallest, fastest, and most precise handheld battery tester in the market. Resistance and voltage testing is critical to determine the health of stationary batteries. The IBEX-Series is also commonly used to comply with IEEE and NERC Standards for Battery Testing. The IBEX-Series battery testing kits are extremely effective in preventing battery failure and an essential component of any battery preventative maintenance program.
Hydrogen Gas Detector for AC and DC Applications
(October 2013) — The HGD-2000 Hydrogen Gas Detector by Eagle Eye Power Solutions is now available for DC power sources in addition to AC power. The DC-powered HGD-2000 gas detectors are commonly found in telecoms, in addition to utilities and battery charging and storing rooms.
The HGD-2000 is simple and easy-to-use and easy-to-install for both AC & DC power sources. If the concentration of hydrogen gas in the air surrounding the sensor reaches 1% by volume, the yellow LED will light and the 1% internal relay will close. A four second delay prevents false activation. If the concentration reaches 2%, the red LED will flash, the internal 80 db warning alarm will sound, and the 2% internal relay will close. The HGD-2000 is an inexpensive, preventative tool for equipment and personnel protection where hydrogen gas buildup can occur.
Renaming our LB-Series to SLB-Series
(September 2013) — Eagle Eye Power Solutions is renaming our LB-Series to the SLB-Series. The SLB-Series Load Banks are designed particularly for SMART battery load testing. Eagle Eye Power Solutions will feature a new DC Load Bank Series that allows for a dummy DC load test with no software or monitoring options. The new LB-Series is simple, cost-effective, and will test your emergency DC generator, UPS, rectifiers, and battery systems.
DC Load Banks - Now Available up to 600 Amp
(February 2013) — Eagle Eye adds four (4) models to our SMART DC Load Bank Series that increase current ranges to 600 amp. The new models include:

- SLB-24/48-600 DAC
The "DAC" units allow the voltage of each cell to be wirelessly recorded and displayed during discharge. This saves time and money by significantly reducing labor hours and replacement costs.
Hydrogen Gas Ventilation System compliments HGD-2000 Hydrogen Gas Detector
(February 2013) — Eagle Eye is adding a Hydrogen Gas Ventilation System to their GD-Series Gas Detection line. The HGVS-1000 is a forced ventilation fan system used in battery charging rooms and other areas where hydrogen may be present. The HGVS-1000 gas ventilation system comes as three separate pieces. The unit that is installed in the battery room is a 24" x 24" square with four fans. The second part of the unit is a louvered damper and the third is a jack which provides environmental protection for the outside of the unit.
The HGVS-1000 is used in conjunction with the HGD-2000 Hydrogen Gas Detector. The HGD-2000 is mounted in the highest part of the room and the HGVS-1000 vent fan is mounted through the outside wall. The system is NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) Compliant. The HGVS-1000 is also compliant with the National Electric Code (NEC) Section 480.9 (A) for ventilation of battery rooms.
Re-launched Version of the GFL-1000 Ground Fault Locator Available Now!
(December 2012) — Eagle Eye Power Solutions is launching a new version of our GFL-1000 Ground Fault Locator replacing our previous model, also named the GFL-1000. This updated version is essential to pinpoint faulty grounding where electrical cables have breakage and lost to the ground. The updated GFL-1000 is based on years of field experience in different DC-systems to detect, track and locate virtual grounding faults.
The GFL-1000 is a useful solution for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance in many industries including: telecommunications, utilities, railways and other DC systems. The updated GFL-1000 is smaller, has a greater operating environment temperature range, has 128 MB internal storage, and includes Ground Fault Location management software to analyze results and easily create reports. The updated GFL-1000 does not have insulation testing functions. The GFL-1000 is commonly used for NERC compliance to meet NERC PRC-005-2 Standards for vented lead-acid, valve-regulated lead-acid and NiCad batteries.
