What industry regulations or standards enforce battery testing and monitoring?

Eagle Eye Power Solutions understands the importance of testing for IEEE and NERC Standards. The standards are broken down below:

IEEE 1188:2005 Recommended practice of maintenance, testing and replacement of Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid (VRLA) batteries for stationary applications

This US Standard recommended practice is limited to maintenance, test schedules and testing procedures that can be used to optimize the life and performance of valve-regulated lead-acid (VLRA) batteries for stationary applications. It also provides guidance to determine when batteries should be replaced.

IEEE 450:2010 Recommended practice of maintenance, testing and replacement of Vented Lead-Acid batteries for stationary applications

This US Standard provides recommended maintenance, test schedules and testing procedures that can be used to optimize the life and performance of permanently-installed vented lead-acid batteries used in standby service, where a battery charger normally maintains the battery fully charged and provides the DC loads. It also provides guidance to determine when batteries should be replaced.

NERC PRC-005-2

North American utilities have to meet NERC requirements, and Eagle Eye Power Solutions will ensure compliance with standard PRC-005-2. The purpose of NERC PRC-005-2 is to document and implement programs for the maintenance of all protection systems affecting the reliability of the Bulk Electric System (BES) so that these Protection Systems are kept in working order. See our NERC Maintenance Guide to ensure proper PRC-005-2 maintenance activities.
